You’ll see hundreds of funding opportunities in emerging markets. You can look through them all; set a filter for just $100k+, sort by funding amount, or follow the steps below to focus on the right programs for you and your work.
Just Remember: these are funding opportunities that have since passed their deadlines.
Don’t kick yourself too hard if you find a grant that would have been perfect for your work. :)
Once you’re in… you should see this.
Start with the Type of opportunity you want to look for
But we recommend just keeping everything to its default
Filter to your specific Geography
Grants can be global, specific to a special list of eligible countries, regional, country specific, you name it!
We’ve done our best to make this easily filterable, but we have some recommendations on how to best isolate just the opportunities you should ne looking closer into. As per the screenshot above:
Select “Global”
This will catch grants available to organizations from any country
Select any of the “Lists” pertaining to the countries where you do business
These will catch grants available to countries on these lists. Current options:
Commonwealth Countries (here)
Slect any “Region” that you/your organization does business in
Choose any relevant to you
And finally, choose any “Country” your organization actively works in
Example
If your organization works in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa you should select:
Global | LMIC | ODA | Commonwealth | Africa | Sub-Saharan Africa | East Africa | West Africa | Southern Africa | Kenya | Nigeria | South Africa |
From there, we’ll work to isolate funding opportunities relevant to your “Sector”
Select “Any”
This will catch grants that are sector agnostic
Choose other sectors relevant to your work. They are more or less grouped together, minus a few outliers. The bolded options below are ones we recommend you select as a “catch-all” if relevant to your work. You can get more granular from there.
- Environment
- Conservation/Restauration
- Animal Welfare/Wildlife
- Carbon
- Ocean
- Climate

- Investment
- Other
- Entertainment
- Insurance
- Construction
- Media
- Mining
- Real Estate
Each opportunity’s labeled Sector tags tell the story of the funding program! We recommend selecting any that could be relevant to you and your work.
And finally, you can isolate the right opportunities based on how your organization is formally registered with our Eligibility tags.
Select “Any”
This will catch grants meant for any type of organization or individual
Now choose either “Non Profit” , “For Profit”, “Government”, or “Academic Institution” depending on how your organization is formally registered
Though most of the grants with the tag “Individuals” will be research focused, you’ll also want to select it to catch funding that could go to you personally as opposed to your organization
Other Options:
- Informal/Community Groups
- Student (if you’re still studying)
- Youth (if you’re under 35)
- Principal Investigator (if you’re a researcher)
- Women-Led (if you’re a woman founder)
- Fund (if you invest in SMEs)
- Other
*It might help to select multiple eligibilities if you have other types of organizations that can partner with you on a grant. (For example, if an Academic Institution that can be the lead).

Any questions?
Reply here or email daniel@fundraisingdispatch.com.
We’ve got a couple for you.
If our premium subscription helped you (or your portfolio companies, clients, or others you work with) find, apply for, and win $50k in grant funding… would our annual subscription rate of $10 a month be worth it?
And what if it was $100k that you won? Or $1,000,000?
Bonus Tips!
Did you find a grant program (though now, closed) that was relevant to you?
Check in on the funder’s website from time-to time to see when they publish another similar call for applications
See if…
You already know anyone at that organization you can reach out to (to remind them of your work and explore co-creation)
You know anyone that has previously received their funding that you can reach out to (to get their advice on working with them)
You can try cold outreach direct to the funder
To help you get on that funder’s radar and/or see if they have any $$$ available outside of their last RFP.
