Energy Efficiency Hackathon 2026. UNDP Tanzania.
• Creative, tech-driven solutions that address Tanzania’s growing energy efficiency needs.
• Three focus areas: 1) Smart energy monitoring, 2) Energy-Efficient Buildings and 3) Integrated Water–Energy Management.
• Youth innovators (18–35).
• Tanzania.
• Up to ~$3,846 (10m TZS) in seed funding alongside post-hackathon support.

Transformative Research Challenge. World Food Forum.
• Innovative solutions that leverage alternative public data and advanced analytical techniques to strengthen hunger forecasting and food security decision-making.
• Promote science-based, responsible and scalable approaches, including human-AI collaboration, that enhance data-driven food security monitoring and early warning.
• Young researchers, youth-led (ages 18–35).
• All countries.
• Up to $10k in research funding. The overall winner of the Transformative Research Challenge (TRC) will receive an additional $10k.

ViGOR Research Fellowships. KEMRI–Wellcome Trust.
• Aims to strengthen public health systems in the Central/East Africa region by expanding access to genomics, bioinformatics, and outbreak modelling tools during virus outbreaks.
• Early-career researchers with a Master’s and or PhD qualification (up to 6 years post PhD Award). Full time Affiliation/employment in a recognized academic institution (universities), government /public health labs, or research institution.
• Eastern or Central Africa.
• Up to £15k in project funding.

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives – Sierra Leone (2026). Government of Canada.
• Small-scale, high-impact projects which align with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement.
• NGOs, community and not-for-profits, academic institutions and government institutions. They should all be working on local projects.
• Sierra Leone.
• Up to ~$32,864 (CAD 45k) grant funding.
• May 10, 2026.
PTES Conservation Insight Grants. People's Trust for Endangered Species.
• Conservation and research work on species classified as endangered, critically endangered and extinct in the wild by the IUCN. Priority is given to native project leaders working in their own country.
• Please note that we do not accept any grant applications on bird species.
• Scientific researchers and conservationists.
• Working and established in either the UK, UK overseas territories or any country NOT classified by the World Bank as high-income.
• Up to €20k grants.
• May 28, 2026.
2026 Youth Innovation Challenge. Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP).
• An innovative solution to tackle marine issues, provide healthy habitats for marine life, protect human health, and support people of all ages to be engaged stewards to support marine environments.
• Young leaders and innovators aged 15–30.
• All countries.
• $1k prize.
• May 31, 2026.
Applications now OPEN for AEOC 2026. Africa Earth Observation Challenge (AEOC).
• Aims to drive entrepreneurial activity in the African space industry and promote awareness of the value of Earth Observation to a broad community.
• To develop Africa’s geospatial readiness so that African businesses can service African demand for geospatial intelligence.
• Innovators, entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses.
• Africa.
• Up to $10k grant (to be distributed across top three winners) alongside Amazon Web Services and mentorship.
